syncing my nokia 3120 to gmail

your phone.

This
feature isn’t really advertised by Google, but they do support
synchronization of your gmail contacts to your phone through syncml.

Use the following settings on your phone:

  • SyncML server: https://m.google.com/syncml (you’ll get a 404 error when visiting this site by normal browser, this is normal!)
  • Contacts database: contacts
  • Username: username or username@domain.com if you use gmail for domains.

funded vs unfunded?

Moving to Funded Pension Schemes

More Pirate bay

This decision to imprison the pirate bay 3 is distrurbing.
1 year in prison for a crime that does not involve violence is  disproportionate.
The appeal will be very interseting indeed.
Copyright is a very recent invention that has outlived it's usefulness.

Ubuntu software updates

Frustrations with Acrobat reader -(medibuntu). synaptic giving useless error "...ttp://archive.canonical.com intrepid/partner Packages ... failed to install
/upgrade: trying to overwrite `/usr/share/man/man1/acroread.1.gz', ..." Luckily a google search rooted out a suggestion. Use the "remove --purge" option for apt-get then re-install the beast.
That could be a solution for other misbehaving applications.

Pirate Bay "spectrial" breaking the butterfly upon the wheel

Well the Spectrial is over and the judge has retired to mull over the verdict.

Just say no to copyright

This is a great insight into the whole copyright scam.
From music to movies to software.
Imagine a world without copyright - International Herald Tribune
Joost Smiers

there is just no excuse for this ongoing exploitation of artists and the public.

Copyright is a legal invention that has outlived it's usefulness,
Time for us to let it go.
